About my fundraising
On 27th May 2012 my brother Chris and I will be running the Edinburgh Marathon in aid of Haemochromotosis. Haemochromatosis is one of the most common genetic disorders. An excessive amount of iron from the diet is absorbed, which causes organ damage. Early diagnosis and treatment is vital. The Haemochromatosis Society provides support for people with the disorder, promotes public and professional awareness, and supports research. This charity is one that is close to our hearts, as both Mum and I were diagnosed with Haemochromotosis some years ago. There are also other family members that suffer with this blood disorder. Although this will be my 3rd Marathon, it is Chris's 1st - he is the one who has coaxed me into it!! Chris has been suffering with a knee injury which has slowed up his training, but he is determined to get through and complete this achievement.
