The Pilion Trust Charity is a community based charity which works in the hardcore reality end of the voluntary sector. We provide several services to the community; Our Enhanced Outreach Service(ECO) outreach workers face potential attacks by dogs, verbal and physical abuse and attacks on a daily and weekly basis as they work on the London streets during the day and night.
They encounter people suffering from homelessness, drug and alcohol misuse, mental health issues; learning difficulties and other complex needs issues. They face the grim reality of advocating on behalf of people who for many different reasons have found their lives in chaos and who are unprepared to deal with the negative complexities of their lives. Offering assessment; referral, advocacy and person centred support they have managed to assist over 150+ people from varying cultures to alter their lifestyles in a way which enables those people to again manage to integrate themselves into mainstream society and not feel like outcasts which society shuns and ignores. By empowering and developing people to face the past or current crisis in their lives and finding mechanisms to assist them to overcome the debilitating effects of whatever caused their lives to descend into chaos our outreach workers are carrying out a very important role; helping people regain their lives and helping the community to feel safer.
Our Voyssi Project is a capacity building service; which assists the many different cultural structures within the borough who have set up voluntary organisations to help their people receive the training and knowledge they require to enable the frontline workers to more fully understand the presenting needs of the people who come to them for help. After surveying the organisations and understanding and their many issues and requirements. We provide the relevant training and workshops requested and will continue to do so. This is a service we have found can be expanded and enhanced and is relevant for many London boroughs.
This is a general long term appeal on behalf of the Pilion Trust Charity. We need to raise unrestricted funds to help with the day to day running of the charity. Also the charity aims in the future to provide more specialist person centred services to our clients and the communities we work and live in; using creative and innovative methods. In line with our four main charitable objectives. To be able to achieve these aims requires generating funds.
The charity aims to hold it's first charity fundraising ball this year and start up two social enterprises by early next year and the charity needs to buy a building. The charity has lots of fund raising ideas on the cards but everyone in the organisation is working above and beyond the call of duty and we are all extremely tired at the moment and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future....which in one way is great because we are achieving a lot of what we wish to achieve. But in another way it is not great because we may all start collapsing at some point!!!
P.S. When you make a donation, don't forget to check the Gift Aid box if you're a UK taxpayer as then your charity can claim an extra 25% from the government!
