About DELTA (Deaf Education Through Listening and Talking)

DELTA is a national charity supporting deaf children, their families and practitioners who wish to follow an auditory oral route, from birth, through education & beyond. We do this through the Natural Aural Approach.

Vision

We want a world in which deaf children are able to realise their full potential within their communities and we believe this is best achieved through support to learn to listen and, thereby, acquire spoken language.

We believe that the vast majority of deaf children can learn to listen and talk

We believe that all parents of deaf children should be given this option

Mission

Based on improving knowledge of the effectiveness of natural auralism, we aim to make a positive difference in the lives of deaf children and their families through sharing information, influencing training, providing support and campaigning for change.

Fund raised may be used towards; Literature and research on the Natural Aural Approach. Information days and meetings across the country, including our annual Summer Schools to guide the whole family in their skills and techniques. Training courses for practitioners. Advice to Local Authorities and other Government bodies. Information to doctors and other health professionals.

1 PROMOTE THE EDUCATION OF HEARING IMPAIRED CHILDREN THROUGH THE USE OF THEIR RESIDUAL HEARING CAPACITY AND THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT OF A NATURALLY SPOKEN LANGUAGE 2 ADVANCE BY RESEARCH AND EDUCATION TEACHERS PARENTS AND OTHERS INVOLVED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF HEARING-IMPAIRED CHILDREN BY TRAINING AND TEACHING THEM THE VARIOUS TECHNIQUES INVOLVED IN THE AUDITORY ACQUISITION OF SPOKEN LANGUAGE BY SUCH HEARING IMPAIRED PEOPLE IN PARTICULAR IN THE FIELD OF FURTHER AND HIGHER EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND TO PROMOTE PUBLIC EDUCATION ABOUT THE NEEDS OF SUCH PEOPLE IN THOSE AREAS.
