Clare Williams is raising money for Signal

My story

I am taking on the huge challenge of my first marathon - The London Marathon, April 24th 2016!
I am trying to raise £1000 for Signal, a Shrewsbury based charity supporting people with hearing loss across the UK.
My main motivation is the wonderful children with hearing loss that I have worked with as a teacher. Working with these children and their families has been inspirational to me. With the right support, equipment and awareness, children with hearing loss can and do achieve so much.

Follow my progress on Twitter @ShrewsRunBuddy

Maybe you know a child with hearing problems? Maybe you have an older relative that is hard or hearing? Maybe you know someone who is suffering from tinnitus? If you do, you will appreciate how difficult ordinary things can be for them and how a little support from charities like this can go a long way.

Signal believe that everyone regardless of gender, ability, race or location have the same basic rights. The isolation faced by deaf children and adults across the world is unique. Communication difficulties between them and hearing people often lead to isolation and discrimination.

Signal works to bridge this gap by building communication skills, raising awareness and making changes to behaviour and lives.
They work with partner organisations to enable children and adults with a hearing loss to take control of their lives and become less dependent on others, so that they have equal access to services, working life and their community. The changes made are powerful and long-lasting.
