Event date: 1st February 2014
Guildford Cathedral Music Department is raising money for Guildford Cathedral
The organist, sub organist, acting organ scholar, music department secretary and lay clerks of Guildford Cathedral are taking on their greatest challenge yet - to go 'dry' for the month of February 2014 in aid of the Guildford Cathedral Appeal.
It is no secret that a quick tipple after the service can often soothe the vocal folds following a sublime Choral Evensong, but it's going to be all juice and soda from now on. The only exemption will be Holy Communion wine. In cases of dire emergency, a forfeit will be payable by the musicians. Why not buy the musicians a 'virtual' pint or a glass of wine or 2? All monies raised will go towards supporting the Guildford Cathedral Appeal guildford-cathedral.org/support/appeal.
OFFLINE PLEDGES (in addition to the amount raised above) TO DATE = £2,753.75 (inc GA)!
3 FEBRUARY UPDATE: day 3 and all's going well, no-one has sinned, communion was gratefully received at Candlemas. The team is overwhelmed by your incredible support to date, please keep it coming as we get more and more thirsty!
6 FEBRUARY UPDATE: well day 6 with the prospect of a dry weekend ahead is feeling tricky! However, we've had fantastic news in the music office today - Andy Phillips, one of our tenor lay clerks, has already been pledged £700 + GA (offline) from members of a choir that he conducts. Increasing our target (which looks likely) is a great motivator for the team. Thank you everyone for your support.
17 FEBRUARY UPDATE: it is choir half-term, the organist is in the USA and still hasn't touched a drop. The team has remained strong, no-one has sinned, motivation still remains high because of the extraordinary support from you all.
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Guildford Cathedral.
