Marie Curie Cancer Care has been chosen from hundreds of charities as the winner of the 2009 Everyclick Charity Challenge. They win a national outdoor advertising campaign at 1500 sites, courtesy of Clear Channel Outdoor.
Charities competed in the Everyclick Charity Challenge in three categories, according to the size of their donor base. Marie Curie was the winner of the large charities category and the overall competition. The competition runners up were Endometriosis UK and Epilepsy Action, winners of the small and medium categories respectively, who have won free advertising on Everyclick.
Marie Curie's entry very much impressed the judges; they had used almost every possible avenue, online and offline, to ask their fundraisers to support them through the Everyclick fundraising tools.
Their national Clear Channel Outdoor advertising campaign will be launched later in the year, and as with the 2008 Charity Challenge winner Diabetes UK, will hopefully result in a significant boost in public awareness for their work.
We will let you know when the overall winning charity's outdoor poster campaign goes live.

Their innovative use of social media and of offline promotion such as presentations to all their staff and post-it notes which stated 'More ways to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care' helped them win the competition.

Everyclick Charity Challenge 2009 results press release
Points 1 and 2 will be determined using data sourced from Everyclick and supplied by the charity. Everyclick reserves the right to verify all charity information. A shortlist will be drawn up of five charities in each of the three bands (15 charities in total) from the results achieved in Points 1 and 2. From these shortlists an overall winner and two category winners will be selected by an independent judging panel that will meet in April 2009. The judges will make their decision based on point 3.
"The Charities Challenge has provided us with a great opportunity to re-launch this popular Measure Up campaign, which has proven very effective in changing the public's attitudes towards diabetes by highlighting the serious consequences if the condition is left untreated. Continued promotion of these vital messages is important and the Everyclick competition provides the perfect platform to do this"
Douglas Smallwood, CEO of 2008 Charities Challenge Winner, Diabetes UK
"Outdoor advertising remains one of the most effective methods of getting messages to the public and we are proud to offer charities the chance to capitalise on this. Diabetes UK impressed us this year with its innovation and drive to get its supporters on board to win the competition. The Diabetes UK team covered every marketing angle imaginable and we are looking forward to seeing what charities can achieve in 2009"
Pip Hainsworth, Marketing Director of Clear Channel Outdoor
"This is one of the largest and most exciting competitions available to UK charities, offering them a chance to win an unprecedented amount of national exposure, engage supporters and source an additional revenue stream. We want charities of all sizes to rise to the challenge and encourage their staff, corporate partners, donors and fundraisers to use Everyclick's fundraising tools as an additional and sustainable revenue stream. Charities Challenge is a way for us to encourage and promote innovative marketing in the Third Sector, and at the same time it reflects Everyclick's drive to get the general public to incorporate fundraising into their everyday lives."
