About BUCKINGHAM HERITAGE TRUST

The Trust was formed in 1985 with the aims of acquiring, restoring and developing the Old Gaol as a museum for the town of Buckingham. It is a registered charity (No. 292807) and a company limited by guarantee (No. 1950221). The Trust acquired the building from Aylesbury Vale District Council and restored it with grants from English Heritage and Buckingham Borough Development Company. The Trust raised funds to establish the Museum, which opened in 1993. In 1998, the Museum achieved official Registration status, No 188.

Fundraising helps the Heritage Trust to maintain the historic fabric of the Old Gaol itself, run the museum, and the various events and activites that happen throughout the year. All donations are deposited into the "unrestricted" fund of the Old Gaol.
