About Books Abroad
Books Abroad supply good quality, donated second-hand books to remote schools, colleges and libraries in developing countries where poverty makes such reading material extremely hard to secure. In response to specific requests we send books free of charge to struggling schools thereby making sensible reuse of a valuable resource that would otherwise end up in a landfill site. In addition we purchase certain up-to-date text books covering such subjects as Aids-awareness and medical matters, grammar books, science and agriculture. All our donated books are gathered in our warehouse where they are carefully selected by our volunteers and packed in parcels of approximately 9kg, small enough to be carried by an individual to a remote school. We also despatch container loads to central distribution points.
