About my fundraising
In Uganda, everyday we see grandmothers taking control, taking care of their families and working hard.
As a grandmother Diane will be cycling around part of Britain on a Raleigh bike with Sturmey Archer gears to reflect the perseverance and energy the Grandmothers of Uganda within Teams projects show in their daily lives. They are taking responsibility for orphaned children within their families, providing for their needs by cultivating the land, growing crops, harvesting and creating food for their daily meal. These women are innovative and keen to make a difference, they attend literacy classes within the project and some attend the sewing classes provide to help develop income generation. Age is no barrier to them recognizing the challenges and finding ways forward. Hopefully Diane will show this in her perseverance to complete her 428 mile challenge from North Wales back to Slough taking in a visit to her own granddaughter near Kendal.
