The world needs engineers. You can never have enough. Pretty much everything we require to survive has been designed and made by engineers. Today we need engineers even more, to help solve the world's global and domestic challenges.

Without them we would not be able to tackle global warming, identify new sources of renewable energy, build bridges and roads, provide the technology to bring water to remote African villages, feed the growing global population, or ensure your milk reaches your breakfast table in the morning.

In Britain, interest in engineering careers has sadly been declining in recent years, which is a problem for British companies, who want Britain to play its part in solving the engineering challenges of tomorrow.

Arkwright was set up in 1991 by Design & Technology teachers who recognised the problem, and felt they could help provide a solution.

Arkwright was set up in 1991 by Design & Technology teachers who recognised the problem, and felt they could help provide a solution.

Arkwright helps raise awareness of engineering careers by awarding Scholarships to top D&T students in British schools as they embark on their sixth form studies. Scholars are given mentoring, funding and encouragement to help them achieve their potential and go on to study an engineering degree at University.

We need your support to help find and inspire the next generation of engineers. It is, after all, in all our interests to ensure we have the capacity to tackle the engineering challenges ahead.

TO ADVANCE EDUCATION IN GREAT BRITAIN IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS:- (A) IN ESTABLISHING AND MAINTAINING SCHOLARSHIPS TO BE FROM TIME TO TIME AWARDED TO PERSONS ENTERING A COURSE LEADING TO THE GENERAL CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION ADVANCED LEVEL EXAMINATIONS (OR ANY EXAMINATIONS DEEMED BY THE TRUSTEES TO BE EQUIVALENT THERETO OR TO HAVE BEEN SUBSTITUTED THEREFOR) IN TECHNOLOGICAL, ENGINEERING AND DESIGN- RELATED SUBJECTS AND WHO HAVE (IN THE OPINION OF THE TRUSTEES) EDUCATIONAL OR FINANCIAL NEED FOR SUCH ASSISTANCE; (B) BY MAKING DONATIONS OR SUBSCRIPTIONS TO SUCH ONE OR MORE OF THE CHARITABLE SCHOOLS COLLEGES UNIVERSITIES OR OTHER CHARITABLE INSTITUTIONS NOW EXISTING OR HEREINAFTER TO EXIST WHICH PROMOTE EDUCATION IN GREAT BRITAIN IN SUCH PROPORTIONS IF MORE THAN ONE AS THE TRUSTEES SHALL THINK FIT AND SO THAT ANY DONATIONS OR SUBSCRIPTIONS MAY BE MADE EITHER FOR THE GENERAL CHARITABLE PURPOSES OF SUCH CHARITABLE SCHOOLS COLLEGES UNIVERSITIES OR OTHER CHARITABLE INSTITUTIONS WHERE APPROPRIATE ... more
