ARCOS is a national charity, working to improve life for children and adults who have communication and / or swallowing problems caused by conditions that are often complex and require specialized, long-term treatment. ARCOS is not a private clinic and we depend upon charitable donations to maintain a high quality of service. ARCOS works in collaboration with the NHS and other organizations, to improve services for people with communication and / or eating (swallowing) problems. We work directly with clients and with their families. In order to promote comprehensive help and support, we expect to liaise with the client?s GP and other professionals involved. ARCOS provides training for professionals including doctors, therapists, nurses and teachers. The NHS, throughout the UK purchases the majority of ARCOS? training courses for professional staff. During the three years 2002-2005 The BBC Children in Need Appeal has enabled ARCOS? to provide free training of those helping more than nearly 270 disabled children in nurseries, schools, residential homes, respite care and hospices.
