About my fundraising

The Ilongero Secondary School in central Tanzania has over 900 students. Yet, in the words of its headmaster ?it is failing to provide an adequate education due to the lack of electricity?.

The Kanga Project, a UK charity, have just finished the building of a 60 bed dormitory for girls in the grounds of the school so that those living too far away from the school can get the chance of an education. Yet this chance is being jeopardized by the poor quality of the education. An issue that is mainly down to lack of electricity.

Delivering quality education without electricity is a huge challenge for a school and it goes well beyond a lack of bright light for reading. Electricity is power.

Electricity attracts teachers: Ilongero school has only 4 qualified teachers and a handful of part time ex-students, yet it has 961 students.
