I'm going to SHAVE MY HEAD for Dementia Forward

My Mum lived with Dementia for too long. She needed love, support and care as her health deteriorated. I was her main carer and with the help of Dementia Forward (in particular Nicky the Admiral Nurse), we managed to make her final days as comfortable as possible despite the great torment she experienced. They were with me through so many episodes that my Mum went through in a way which, not only helped my Mum, but also helped me to cope - I really could not have coped without their help.

I only really fully understood the good work performed by Dementia Forward after my Mum sadly passed away. Not only had they helped my Mum as she lived with Dementia and gave me the support at the time, they then continued to help me through my grieving process and gave me the understanding and support I needed in understanding what my Mum had gone through.

It is now my turn to help Dementia Forward and do what little I can to put something back. I already volunteer a small part of my time helping in one of their wellbeing cafes (Time Together Tuesday) - something which gives me so much pleasure. I am now looking to try to raise a modest amount of funds to help their excellent work by having my head shaved.

I am hopeful that all my very good friends, acquaintances and other connections will help me do this by donating a small amount to my page, all of which will go to this superb local Charity.

I only hope that, should the time come for anyone who reads this, that Dementia Forward will still be there to help in the way they did with my Mum and me. Thank you.
