1000 Miles For Sara

Hello, and thanks for looking at my profile and more importantly for supporting Sara's Hope Foundation.

I am pleased to be supporting this fantastic and beneficial charity by running 1000 miles between May 2010 and May 2013 in various organised and official races.

This will culminate in my second running of the Marathon des Sables in April 2013, which is known to be the toughest foot race in the World covering over 150 miles in the Sahara Desert. During the 6 days I will have to be self sufficient carrying all my equipment and food with me ( approx 10 kg ).

I ran the race this year 2010, with temperatures reaching 51 degrees I completed the race although I had difficulties such as severe dehydration which resulted in me loosing my eyesight and hearing briefly which required me to have 8 pints of saline and 1 pint of glucose through an IV drip.

In July 2011 I will be running the Gobi Desert, which is a similar race covering 150 miles in Mongolia for Sara's Hope.

In between all of this, I will be running numerous marathon distances ( 26.2 miles ) and Ultra Marathons ( races upto and beyond 50 miles ) in the run up to the main finale in 2013.

My aim is to raise awareness internationally for Sara's Hope Foundation as the Marathon des Sables is an international event televised on Eurosport and various international channels.
